Scotland County Hospital and NEMO Regional Planning Commission Partner to Secure $2.23 Million for Facility Upgrades for Scotland County Hospital
Scotland County Hospital (SCH) is celebrating a major funding award made possible through a successful collaboration with the Northeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission (NEMO RPC). Working together, the organizations submitted an application for Horizon 1 funding through Missouri’s Rural Health Transformation Program to address critical facility infrastructure needs at the hospital.
NEMO RPC prepared the grant application on behalf of Scotland County Hospital, requesting $2,233,540.13 for facility improvements. The application was highly successful, ranking among the top four rural hospital applications submitted statewide, and Scotland County Hospital was awarded its full funding request of $2,233,540.13.
“We are very grateful for Batina Dodge and Chris Feeney and their knowledge of these grant programs and understanding of the complexity of the scoring process. The state had a very short turnaround time for this application, and our application success was possible thanks to their quick and comprehensive work,” said Meagan Weber, CEO of Scotland County Hospital. “Our application was a huge success, and the state awarded our request in full for $2,233,540.13. This will allow us to make some very necessary facility upgrades, including generators, roofing, a new facility call light system, boilers, and HVAC upgrades in some needed areas.”
The award represents an important investment in the long-term sustainability of Scotland County Hospital and its ability to continue providing high-quality healthcare close to home. The partnership with NEMO RPC demonstrates the impact regional collaboration can have in bringing state and federal resources back to rural Northeast Missouri.
“These improvements may not always be the things patients see when they walk through our doors, but they are essential to maintaining a safe, reliable healthcare facility for our community, especially in the older parts of our facility,” Weber added. “We are incredibly thankful to NEMO RPC for being such a strong partner in this process.”
