Dr. Robert R. Carter, MD, FSVS, FACS, RPVI, is a highly skilled vascular surgeon at Scotland County Hospital specializing in rural vascular surgery and musculoskeletal embolization. He earned his medical degree from the University of California at Davis Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Dr. Carter further honed his expertise with a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of Kentucky – Lexington before returning to Kansas City in 2011 to join the Midwest Aortic & Vascular Institute.

Board certified in both general and vascular surgery, Dr. Carter is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and of the Society for Vascular Surgery (FSVS). He is proficient in both open and endovascular techniques, with additional specialty training in wound care and varicose veins.  Further, he traveled to Berlin Germany for dedicated training in musculoskeletal embolization procedures bringing those specialized skills and techniques back to the Midwest.

Dr. Carter has been an associate professor at Kansas City University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, taking pride in educating the next generation of surgeons. His dedication to advancing vascular care is reflected in his extensive publications in renowned medical journals and his contribution to the 5th edition of Current Therapy in Vascular Surgery.  Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exploring the many activities and attractions Kansas City has to offer.
