Dr. Iqbal Khan graduated from Dow University of Medical Sciences in 1987. In 1989
he was admitted to the graduate program in Neurosciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, where he was awarded the James E. Beall II memorial scholarship. He completed his M.S. in Anatomy and Neurosciences in 1992 and soon after started his neurology residency at Northwestern University Chicago, where he served as Chief Resident of Neurology. After residency, Dr. Khan completed his neurology fellowships in Chicago, IL and Birmingham, AL. In 1997 he moved to Mid-Missouri, practicing in Glasgow and Armstrong before moving to Moberly. In 2003 he started his own private practice, Heartland Neurology, LLC, with offices in Moberly and Macon. In the fall of 2014, he expanded his practice to Columbia, MO.
Dr. Khan is a board certified neurologist, and holds additional board certifications in Clinical Neurophysiology (EMGs, Nerve Conduction Studies, EEGs), Sleep Disorders, and Vascular Neurology (Stroke and related disorders). He is among the few neurologists in the U.S. holding quadruple board certifications.
Dr. Khan currently lives in Columbia with his wife Shahana, daughter Afsah, and two sons, Faaris and Sabeeh. Some of you may have heard of his son Faaris Khan – three-time Columbia-Tribune Regional Spelling Bee Champion representing the community at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
