Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for our patients and families and therefore must represent SCH with the highest standard of customer service and compassion and perform all duties in a manner consistent with our mission and core values. This position conducts professional patient interviews in person and via phone, obtaining demographic, financial, and biographical information. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for obtaining information to appropriately bill payers, verify patient insurance eligibility, confirm benefits eligibility, collect point of service payments, and gather statistical information in compliance with federal and state regulations. This position performs duties in medical records, accounts maintenance, cash processing, mail, and data entry. This position works primarily in the clinic setting and is also cross trained to work in the hospital setting as needed; focusing on patient satisfaction as well as fiscal responsibility.

Individuals in this role are responsible for working with team members in a collaborative manner to ensure that patient information is collected and entered into department systems with the expected outcome of meeting established organizational goals and departmental goals.

This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Scotland County Hospital. SCH values and all STRETCH commitments must be consistently demonstrated. Adherence to Code of Conduct and other applicable policies is required.

Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma or Equilvalent
