Amy Bushnell, CMA – First Recipient of BEE Award

Scotland County Hospital and Rural Health Clinics recognized Amy Bushnell, CMA at Memphis Medical Services, as the very first recipient of the BEE Award. This special honor was presented during National Hospital Week, making the celebration even more meaningful.

The BEE Award recognizes team members outside of the nursing field for going above and beyond in their care for patients, visitors and colleagues. It’s meant to complement the internationally known DAISY Award for nursing because just as the DAISY cannot bloom without the support of the BEE, nurses cannot do their best work without the outstanding teamwork provided by other health care professionals on their team. Both the DAISY Award and the BEE Award are nominated by patients, families, and colleagues.

Amy was nominated by a colleague. Here is what her nominator said, “I had the good luck to talk to Amy Bushnell, CMA, regarding a mutual patient. I understand that Amy typically works in general surgery but was floated out to day for assistance. It worked out that when I called with questions about a Dr. Kelsey Davis-Humes patient that she answered. All I needed was the follow-up notes to a procedure so that Medicare would be willing to pay for the patient’s sleep study. Sending notes isn’t an exceptionally difficult task, but it’s so easy to get busy in a medical office, we fully understand. However, Amy was not only able to find me the information requested in a office that she is not familiar with, but she was able to do so before we hung up the phone and with a fantastic attitude. This streamlines the patient’s care, and had Amy not gotten me this information the patient care could have been delayed. Amy was energetic, helpful, and able to end my day on a positive note!!!”
